The Diver and Coraline are part of a body of work entitled “The Art Of Swimming”. Inspired by Everard Digby’s exquisitely illustrated 1587 swimming manual ‘De Arte Natandi’, these works extend the intent of those original survival techniques to the journey of the psyche and its navigation of the primal depths and tidal forces of the uncharted waters that exist below the surface of consciousness.

Both works study processing fear, apprehension and the unknown and investigate sculpture as a haptic experience, a votive relic to hold, touch and interact.
